What are Executive Functions?

Executive functions are a set of cognitive processes that help us plan, organize, initiate, monitor and inhibit our behavior in order to achieve our goals. They are responsible for our ability to control and coordinate our thoughts, emotions, and actions, and are essential for our daily life activities. Understanding and developing your executive functions can help you to be more productive, successful, and happy. The main executive functions are: inhibition, working memory, cognitive flexibility, emotional regulation, planning and problem solving, self-monitoring, and attentional control . Inhibition is the ability to stop oneself from acting impulsively or inappropriately. It helps you to resist distractions, control your emotions and impulses, and maintain your focus on your goals. For example, if you have a strong inhibition, you will be able to resist eating that piece of cake when you are on a diet. Working memory is the ability to hold information in mind for a sh...

Three Tips for Manifesting Anything You Want

Three Tips for Manifesting Anything You Want: 1- Clear intention: You have to want the thing regardless of the feelings that may or may not come along with it. You have to want it for its own sake, with all the twists and turns that might involve, not because it will get you something else. Not because “then you will finally be happy” or “then people will finally respect you”. Your personal happiness will always be in fluctuation throughout life because emotions are a compass that guides you. And respect from others will always depend on the virtue of the person showing it to you, not your own worth. 2- Understand the 50-50 split: If you haven’t manifested something yet its because subconsciously half of you still doesn’t want it. Because of all the reasons and beliefs that you hold about why having it would be too difficult or inconvenient. Or why you don’t deserve it. Or because if you had it something bad would happen. You have to confront those assumption and see if you truly want ...

What are Emotions and What are Triggers?

Image
What are emotions? Emotions are a physiological interpretation or reaction of the world around us and the experiences we go through. They belong to the body. There are a very specific number of types of emotions you can have. Then, the intensity of these same basic emotions can vary in intensity. What are emotions meant to do? They are meant to give us hints as to what to move towards and away from. But in order to do this we have to acknowledge them authentically. Emotions teach us how we would prefer to act, or what we would prefer to do or who we would prefer to be with. The problem with this though is that, instead of living in a society which teaches us to be authentic and follow our emotions, a lot of us have come from authoritarian parenting households, where we are taught that we must overcome our emotions and simply follows the rules of a group. By the part of the parents, this usually isn’t malicious, because maintaining group cohesion is also an important part of...

Why you can't speed up the process of the world awakening outside of yourself

Good morning, all you hunny bunnies! I'm contemplating a lot this morning about the spiritual advancement of civilization and the spiritual advancement of the individual and how they tie in to one another. And the fact that we really just CAN'T CAN'T speed up the process for the world at large or for any other person, because doing so would be pushing a person through coercion rather than them having a genuine realization of a lesson. It's the difference between authentic development and hypocritical memorizing of phrases to repeat. So if we can't speed up the world and we can't speed up the awakening of people, people get frustrated and feel powerless, extremely powerless to the cruel realities in the world as they are. But the answer isn't that we are powerless its that we have to work on developing and awakening in a visceral sense within our own selves, within the world within us. The power to shift our thoughts and emotions is the power to bring about t...

What is Vibration?

Image
Vibration---      Let’s start our journey of learning first by understanding what vibration is. This basis will allow you to use your own insight to navigate the realms of consciousness ahead of you, without the need to be told what to do. If you can understand vibration, you can use that compass to direct your experience in the direction YOU choose, not what someone else chooses for you.      When we talk about vibration this way, we are talking about feeling vibrations, but in order to understand it better we can look at the frequencies of tones in music or of colors on the spectrum of light.      Each one of these notes and colors are unique and valid in their own right, even if some are higher on the spectrum and some are lower. Sound and color can also help us to understand that there are certain vibrations out of our realm of perception but that doesn’t mean that they don’t exist.      An octave in music has 7 note...

Your "Privilege" and How To Approach It Gratefully

Image
Hi there! Let's take 2 seconds to talk about privilege. In the wake of the #BlackLivesMatter movement and all the talk of systematic racism going on, the words "white privilege" have been coming up a lot, but it's not just a white thing. There is "male privilege" which is something enjoyed by men. There is "CIS privilege" which is enjoyed by straight gender conforming individuals. Obviously there is nothing wrong with being these things. You have no choice in the matter as to whether you are born black or white, male, female or other, or are straight or gay. But it seems sometimes when privilege is pointed out some people become angry and think they are being shamed. That's not the point, so let me try to explain what is. When we use these new terms around privilege I personally am never trying or looking for anybody to feel bad or guilty about themselves for it. What would the point of that be? How would that help the situation? Maybe an ang...

The Difference between "Manifesting" on an Individual Level and a Collective Level

Image
Manifesting circumstances as an individual is different than manifesting circumstances as a collective--- There is an important distinction we need to make as new-agers who believe we create our own reality. Yes, this is true, we create our reality as an individual. Our life is our responsibility and a reflection of our thinking, but that applies to our personal reality. We always have the power to manifest on an individual level, but here's the thing... Diversity illustration by Hope McConnell Racism is not an individual issue. It's a societal issue, a collective issue. A lot of times, in order to manifest on an individual level, you have to separate yourself from a collective understanding of reality. MAYBE, and this is a BIG maybe, you could as a POC manifest an experience without racist harassment directed at you, for instance like Candace Owens professes, but that does not mean that it erases racism for the rest of the world. On a collective level, we hav...
